U.S. Ambassador to Ukraine Bridget Brink is resigning her post, according to Reuters in a report today, citing sources familiar with the matter. A protégé of neo-con warhawk Victoria Nuland, Brink served as Senior Advisor and Deputy Assistant Secretary in Nuland’s Bureau of European and Eurasian Affairs from 2015-18. She was appointed as ambassador to Kiev in May 2022, and was viewed as a loyal proponent of using Ukraine as a proxy in a never-ending war. That “skill set” may not now be appropriate, especially when the Trump administration is trying to negotiate with Russia on peace in Ukraine.
