Ryabkov Says, BRICS Currency Still Premature, but Cooperation Grows

Commenting in an interview today with Komsomolskaya Pravda, Russia’s Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov explained that the BRICS cooperation was “not an anti-Western format” but rather a “non-Western one. It is designed to express the aspirations and hopes of the states of the Global South and East, which constitute the global majority.

“The association aims to create and maintain favorable conditions for progressive growth, build up the socio-economic, innovative and human potential of its participants, and find collective solutions to pressing international problems, including reforming the global governance system so that the voice of developing and least developed countries is heard and taken into account,” he told the newspaper.
