In a post on X, the World Food Programme reported that early on Saturday, May 31, the 77 WFP trucks that entered Gaza overnight, laden with flour, were stopped and the food taken “mainly by hungry people trying to feed their families. After nearly 80 days of a total blockade, communities are starving—and they are no longer willing to watch food pass them by. This delivery is a start, but it’s not nearly enough.”
UNRWA Commissioner General Philippe Lazzarini posted on May 31, “There are reports that 900 trucks were sent in the past two weeks. That’s just over 10 per cent of the daily needs of people in Gaza.… The current mass starvation can be stopped. It takes political will.”
