Lula Praises What Trump Did on Russia-Ukraine as 'Great'; Now Act To End Gaza Genocide

“Honestly, when I said that with all the disagreements I may have with [President] Trump, and he may have with me, I think his decision on the [Russia-Ukraine] war was important,” Brazilian President Lula da Silva told reporters in Beijing this morning before leaving China. “It was important, because you had our friend Biden talking about war every day, talking about destroying Russia every day. Trump comes and says: `No, we have to make peace, we have to stop this war.’ I thought that was great.”

As for whether he thinks President Trump might do something similar during his current trip to the Middle East, Lula replied: “I hope he can make a contribution to ending the genocide. The word, I’ll repeat it here. To end the genocide in the Gaza Strip. That’s not a war. That’s genocide. The only thing I want is for the UN to take a decision. And if Trump contributes to that, now— [but] if he wants to turn it into a resort, it won’t work.
