Dmitri Bakanov, the Director-General of Roscosmos, made a number of comments after the failure of the launch of Starship on May 27. The initial launch was successful, but the rocket exploded shortly after separation from the booster. He noted that the SpaceX and Roscosmos projects are united by their common desire to explore deep space. He also added that the ninth flight of the Starship spacecraft demonstrates the complexity of the technological challenges associated with delivering large volumes of payload to Mars.
Bakanov declared that space exploration is always associated with risk and requires the use of advanced technologies. He expressed his support for all of those involved in space exploration projects regardless of their country of origin.
