On May 15, Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem posted on X, “Disgraced former FBI Director James Comey just called for the assassination of @POTUS Trump. DHS and Secret Service is investigating this threat and will respond appropriately.” According to The Hill Comey is currently under investigation by the U.S. Secret Service and possibly other federal agencies. The White House deputy chief of staff Taylor Budowich posted on X, that Comey’s actions “can clearly be interpreted as ‘a hit’ on the sitting President of the United States.”
Comey is under investigation because earlier, on May 15, he had posted a photo on Instagram of a message written in seashells spelling “8647,” complete with a caption that read, “Cool shell formation on my beach walk.” The number 86 is slang for “throw out,” “get rid of,” or “to kill.” Whereas the number “47” refers to Trump, as the 47th President. Later in the day, Comey deleted his seashell post and issued a statement that he assumed that the image was a political message, but was unaware that the expression could be considered a call for violence.
James Comey has a long history of dirty tricks that backfire on him. To eliminate Donald Trump, Comey used everything from “Russiagate” to his “off the books” 2016 “Operation Honeypot”, in which Comey was reported to have used two female undercover “honeypot” FBI agents to infiltrate the highest levels of the Trump presidential campaign.
