Trump’s former advisor, General Michael Flynn sent out a message this morning, lamenting the fact that various “retired military professionals” had taken to the press to call for using a “tactical nuclear weapon” as the only sure way to guarantee Iran’s underground Uranium enrichment facilities could be destroyed, warning that this type of “maniacal reporting has been taken seriously by Russia,” eliciting a response from Kremlin Spokesman Peskov that this would be “catastrophic.”
Flynn further states that he finds Pakistan’s threat to nuke Israel, if Israel (or the US?), uses nukes on Iran, to be credible, and calls on President Trump to publicly disavow American use of nuclear weapons strongly and immediately.
The problem is, as MIT Professor Emeritus Ted Postal has explained, the 30,000 lb “bunker busters” are unlikely to be able to reach their target, so what happens then? Whatever Trump says the United States will not do, will Israel go ahead and use the nuclear weapons that everyone knows they have? President Trump is the only world leader capable of demanding that Bibi stand down, while simultaneously inviting Russian President Putin to intervene, as Putin has offered, to both guarantee the security of Israel, and create the conditions where Iran can continue its sovereign right to peaceful use of nuclear technology both for energy and science.
