A small step for humanity but a big step for Germany: Etris Hashemi, a survivor of the racist terrorist attack in Hanau 2020, where nine persons were killed, has initiated a call signed by over 50 VIPs, against the German policy regarding the Israeli war in Gaza. “We have been experiencing a humanitarian catastrophe for months—documented in real time, visible to the entire world,” Hashemi told Hessenschau, the regional news program of the national broadcaster ARD. “Those who bear political responsibility and remain silent or wait are complicit.”

In this letter, which was sent to Chancellor Friedrich Merz (CDU), the federal government, and the German Bundestag on Wednesday night, June 4, they call, among other things, for suspension of arms shipments to Israel.
