In the aftermath of the IAEA Board of Governors resolution, censuring Iran, Iranian officials are still calling for diplomacy but also vowing that Iran will respond to military actions against it. On Tuesday, during testimony to the House Armed Services Committee, Gen. Michael Kurilla, commander of U.S. Central Command, acknowledged that he has provided military options to President Donald Trump, should he decide in favor of a military campaign against Iran’s nuclear program.

“Threats of ‘overwhelming force’ won’t change facts,” Iran’s mission to the UN said on X in response to Kurilla. “Iran is not seeking a nuclear weapon, and U.S. militarism only fuels instability. CENTCOM’s legacy of fueling regional instability, through arming aggressors and enabling Israeli crimes, strips it of any credibility to speak on peace or non-proliferation.”

“Diplomacy—not militarism—is the only path forward,” it concluded.
