Between June 8 and 9, in the dark of night, in international waters, Israel boarded and seized the Freedom Flotilla Coalition boat that had been headed to Gaza, bearing food and humanitarian aid. June 8 was also the anniversary of Israel’s 1967 naval attack in the Mediterranean on the USS Liberty, killing 34 and injuring another 171 Americans. The Freedom Flotilla Coalition activists, including Greta Thunberg, six French nationals, one of whom one is a Member of European Parliament, and five others, are being taken to the port of Ashdod, where, by the order of Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz, “Anti-Semitic Greta and her Hamas-supporting friends” are to be shown footage of the October 7, 2023 assault on Israel by Hamas.
The One Democratic State Campaign cited an analysis by Dr. Ori Goldberg, a lecturer at Reichmann University, that the Israel’s latest flight-forward is indicative of a society about to fall about:
“The attack on Madleen ship is such a sign of paranoia that shows fraying confidence that results in lashing out…. All because of an unsustainable idea of transforming a pluralistic Palestine to an ethnocentric chauvinistic nation state of ‘Israel’ which the racists think can happen via ongoing genocide and ethnic cleansing!”
