The Israeli economy, like the British-Netanyahu contention that Israel is not carrying out genocide in Gaza, is a lie.

There are several features which show this, but two show the real characteristic of the economy: the fact that citizens are fleeing the country, and the crushing levels of poverty. Israel depends on a high level of defense spending and so-called high tech, the latter being linked to the defense and dirty operations. It is a garrison state, committed to implementing genocide, upon which it prides itself. Without U.S. and European support, in particular, it would start to disintegrate.

• The Israeli TV network i24NEWS reported on December 31, 2024, that 82,700 Israelis had left the country in 2024. Of those who left, 23,800 returned. The number of new immigrants in 2024 was 32,800 (about 15,000 lower than the 2023 figure). Finally, the Israelis have a figure for “family reunification,” which in 2024 was 7,900 who are considered to have entered Israel. Adding together those who are considered to have entered the country in 2024 ("returned,” “new immigration” and “family reunification") yields 64,500. Therefore, net, Israel lost 18,200 people. Seemingly small, but an important trend. In November 2024, i24NEWS published data showing that 117,000 Israeli citizens had left the country for an extended period and stopped living in Israel since the outbreak of war on October 7, 2023—a figure three times higher than previous years’ data.
