The Jamestown Foundation convened its third ‘Breakup Russia’ forum in the U.S. capital on June 12, featuring leaders of the Free Nations of Post-Russia Forum buttressed by sundry American “experts” who have been anti-Russia hands for decades. The FNPRF, explicitly described as the continuation today of the Cold War MI6-CIA “captive nations” operation, consists of a network of Ukrainian and Russian separatist, terrorist forces, operating inside and outside Russia, in which the Jamestown Foundation plays a leading role.
The stated intent of the forum was to defeat the efforts of the Trump administration to normalize U.S.-Russian relations. Speaker after speaker insisted that United States policy towards Russia must instead be that of preparing for, and assisting the “disintegration,” “decolonization,” “dismemberment,” “break-up,” “destruction” of Russia, which they assure is imminent, because, speakers merrily asserted, Russia has been defeated by Ukraine! Ukraine’s Ambassador to the U.S. Oksana Markarona was the first speaker of the day.
The tenor of the detailed, Mad Hatter-like discussions during the course of this full-day, five-panel conference, was epitomized by the proposition made by Jamestown Foundation operative Paul Goble, who said, that while he is confident that Russia’s “dismemberment” is in sight, U.S. policymakers must urgently begin discussing how to ensure that when that occurs, no forces remain which could ever reverse that.
The Thursday, June 12 forum was to be followed by a 30-person lobbying team, which was to descend on Capitol Hill today (Friday, June 13) with the message that the United States should extend diplomatic recognition and material aid to the myriad of smaller, ethnic or regional-based “countries” they seek to establish out of the wreckage of a defeated Russia. The second panel of the forum was a dry-run for this lobbying; the “free-nations” crew honed their sales pitches as to how, if recognized, they would guarantee U.S. control over key geopolitical chokepoints and access to the rich natural resources (oil, gas, minerals) found in what is today the territory of the Russian Federation.
Oleg Magaletsky, the Ukrainian agent praised by Jamestown Foundation speakers as “the soul and engine of the FNPRF,” repeatedly stated that the U.S. must “Make Moscovia Small Again, in Order To Make America Great Again.” Only then, he would add, can China, Iran and North Korea be taken out.
That broader agenda—dismembering Russia as a stepping-stone toward taking apart China—had been specified from the outset by Jamestown Foundation President Peter Mattis, in his welcoming remarks to the Forum. Mattis, in fact, reported that he was speaking to the Forum by video hook-up from Taiwan, where he is deployed with a Jamestown Foundation team on a 10-day “research” project.
