On June 23, the Washington Post, in an article, “Netanyahu Decided on Iran War Last Year, Then Sought To Recruit Trump,” reports that by October 2024, Netanyahu had decided to conduct a war against Iran. The Post states that it built its story by speaking with Israeli and American officials, both on and off the record.
The story carries several features that comport with a false picture of Israel trying to figure out whether the Iranians really were going to proceed with building a nuclear bomb, and in a larger sense, the article is a cover story, in that it does not explain the British role in determining the larger geometry and processes in which each participant in the war was to be assigned a part.
