Russian President Vladimir Putin, who addressed the plenary session of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum on June 19, emphasized that the Iran-Israel conflict is very complex, and that Russia will take a balanced approach to the situation, reported RT.
He noted that nearly 2 million Israeli residents speak Russian, and said, “It is almost a Russian-speaking country today. And, undoubtedly, we always take this into account in Russia’s contemporary history.”
He also pointed out that 15% of the Russian population are Muslim; Russia has “friendly, trusting, and allied” relations with the Arab and Islamic world, and that Russia participates as an observer in the Organization of Islamic Cooperation.
