Russia-China Trade Keeps Up Expansion Despite Sanctions

In greeting China’s Deputy Prime Minister Ding Xuexiang to the St. Petersburg International Forum, Russian President Vladimir Putin commented on the continuing, rapid growth of trade between Russia and China, although under multiple layers of sanctions of the United States and the European Union. Putin implied that new joint investment projects between the two countries had also been discussed.

“I will gladly accept the invitation of the Chairman of the People’s Republic of China, and come to China on a visit in connection with the end of World War II and the victory over militarist Japan,” Putin said to Ding, “and I will also participate in the SCO [Shanghai Cooperation Organization] summit.
