An unnamed U.S. official told Reuters early today that White House special envoy Steve Witkoff is still planning to travel to Oman for the sixth round of U.S.-Iran indirect talks on Iran’s response to a recent American proposal for a nuclear deal. Omani Foreign Minister Badr al-Busaidi confirmed this morning that the talks will take place. This was after the Jerusalem Post, citing, “a source familiar with the details,” reported that there was “definitely a chance” that the sixth round of nuclear talks between the United States and Iran would not take place, given the tensions between the two countries.

The resolution censuring Iran voted up by the IAEA Board of Governors may complicate the scheduled talks in Oman. “These negotiations will take place in the shadow of the recently adopted IAEA resolution, which complicates the talks, but we are determined to defend Iran’s rights and nuclear achievements,” Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said in a video message following a two-day visit to Norway, reported Iran’s Mehr News Agency.
