Weber Makes Friends in Spain

Manfred Weber, head of the People’s Party faction in the European Parliament, did not like Spain getting a waiver on the EU/NATO decision to increase defense spending up to 5% of GDP. “I find it scandalous that [Prime Minister] Sánchez is playing for his own interests. This is about overall solidarity in Europe. Spain must also make a fair and equitable contribution to defense—just like everyone else,” Weber said in an interview with German television ZDF program “Morgen Magazine.”
