At yesterday’s joint press conference with U.K. Prime Minister Keir Starmer, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz said: “We have of course spoken at length about military support for Ukraine, and not just about air defense, but also about Ukraine’s ability to defend itself better with long-range systems. We call this ‘long-range fire.’ Ukraine will soon receive further support in this direction on a large scale, also through industrial cooperation that we have entered into with Ukraine. We will not report on the details publicly, but Ukraine will receive much more support with such systems in the coming weeks and months.
“I very much hope that the American government, together with the American Congress, will take the decisions that have been in preparation in Congress for several weeks. We, Keir Starmer as well as myself, are in close contact with a number of senators who have prepared this. We very much hope that the American government will come to a corresponding decision.”
