The ZF Friedrichshafen company plans to move part of its production to Hungary. ZF is the largest German automobile gearbox producer, and although the decision has not been made public but leaked by the Saarbrücker Zeitung, it is not unexpected. High energy prices and Green Deal regulations make it impossible to continue producing in Germany. For comparison, retail electricity prices in Germany were €0.298/kwh, almost three times higher than €0.109 in Hungary.
In the Czech Republic, six industrial groups have warned of “industrial decline” in a joint letter to Prime Minister Petr Fiala. The six industrial groups are demanding zero tax on gas, lower network charges for electricity and gas and temporary state aid should prices remain high in 2025. They also criticized the EU Emissions Trading System.
