Gaza Doctors Too Weak from Hunger To Treat Patients

There are reports of doctors and health workers fainting from hunger during surgeries, and patients with such weak pulses from starvation that doctors are unable to operate. Other reports include ambulance medics rescuing an injured person, but fainting in the middle of the rescue. A physician at the Al-Shifa Hospital in Gaza City told reporters, “Today I have been on a 24-hour shift … and right now I can’t even stand.” The director of the hospital Dr. Mohammed Abu Selmia said, “Medical services will be affected because our staff will not be able to hold out any longer in the face of this famine.”
