A huge demonstration protesting Israel’s genocide in Gaza took place in Rabat, the capital of Morocco on Sunday, July 20. As organized by various groups, including a coalition of the Islamist movement Al-Adl Wal-Ihssane and left-wing parties, and numbering in the tens of thousands, the demonstrators called for the reversal of Morocco’s 2020 normalization deal with Israel. They held Palestinian flags and placards calling for the free flow of aid and the lifting of Israel’s blockade on Gaza. The demonstrators chanted: “It’s a disgrace, Gaza is under fire,” “Lift the blockade,” “Morocco, Palestine, one people,” and “No to normalization.” “Palestinians are being starved and killed before the eyes of the whole world,” said Jamal Behar, one of the demonstrators in Rabat. “It is our duty to denounce this dramatic, unbearable situation.”
