Speaking on the [La7 television channel program “In Onda”](https://tg.la7.it/esteri/francesca-albanese-rivoluzione-israele-13-08-2025-242622] on Aug. 13, UN Special Rapporteur on Palestine Francesca Albanese said it is wrong to say that the international community, as a community of states, is in shocking paralysis over Netanyahu’s criminal action against Gaza. “We say this and see it thanks to the Eurocentric view we continue to have of the world,” she declared, adding: “Because in reality, there are countries in the Southern Hemisphere—in Latin America, Africa, and Asia—that are no longer the states they were at the time of decolonization 50-60 years ago. They are opposing Israel and have begun to impose sanctions and cut off natural resources.
“This also reflects a deep indignation among many, many ordinary citizens who are protesting and beginning to voice their legitimate grievances against their respective governments. In other words, we are experiencing a revolution and we don’t realize it.”
Otherwise, she went on, it is astonishing that “Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu—wanted by the International Criminal Court for crimes against humanity and war crimes—instead of being arrested, which is what we should be talking about, still manages to decide what we should be talking about.
