The UN Security Council will hold a special session on the Nord Stream sabotage on Tuesday, Aug. 26, at 4 p.m. EDT. Panama, the chair for August, scheduled the session on the request of Russia. Acting Permanent Representative to the UN from Russia Dmitry Polyanskiy wrote on his Telegram channel yesterday: “Amid reports about the arrest of a suspect in organizing terror attacks on the Nord Streams in September 2022, Russia has requested an emergency UNSC meeting. We will be drawing attention to how the German investigation is being delayed and how non-transparent it has been for the Security Council.”

Serhii Kuznetsov, the Ukrainian national arrested in Italy under German mandate because of the Nord Stream bombing, will remain in jail until the hearing for his extradition to Germany, scheduled for Sept. 3, an Italian judge decided yesterday. Kuznetsov’s lawyer will oppose extradition.
