Another American citizen has died from Israeli settler attacks, the second one within three weeks. On July 30, in the middle of the night, settlers set fire to homes and cars in the village of Silwas, in the central section of the West Bank. American citizen Khamis Ayyad, 41, from Cicero, Illinois, died from smoke inhalation. His family said that he woke up from sleep and tried to put out some of the fires of neighbors. He leaves behind a wife and five children.
Khamis had lived in the West Bank for several years, while working for an American company. On Aug. 3, the U.S. State Department confirmed that Ayyad was an American citizen and had died. It came less than three weeks after settlers beat to death 20-year-old Saif Musallet of Tampa, Florida.
