Newly declassified FBI files have been handed to Congress, according FBI Director Kash Patel, which document the 2017 role of then-Congressman Adam Schiff, Democratic lead on the House Intelligence Committee, in orchestrating an operation to provide leaks to the media, including classified material, in order to paint then-President Donald Trump as being compromised by Moscow. Central to the new material is a new whistleblower, a Democratic staffer on Schiff’s committee.
Patel posted on X on Aug. 11, Monday evening: “We found it. We declassified it. Now Congress can see how classified info was leaked to shape political narratives—and decide if our institutions were weaponized against the American people.”
Yesterday, the New York Post opened their coverage: “During an FBI interview in June 2023, the whistleblower recalled being part of an all-staff meeting called by now-Sen. Schiff (D-Calif.), at which” Schiff “stated the group would leak classified information which was derogatory” to President Trump. He “stated the information would be used to indict” Trump. “The whistleblower said he objected to Schiff’s idea ... only to be told by other participants that ‘they would not be caught leaking classified information.’”
When approached later, he said that he “’believed this activity to be unethical and treasonous.’ The whistleblower eventually reached out to the FBI ... only to later be told that the Justice Department would not investigate further.”
