Denver Airport May Build a Nuclear Power Plant

After years of LaRouche activists organizing at the Denver International Airport for nuclear power, the airport itself may build a small modular reactor (SMR) on its 33,500 acre campus, according to an August 6 press release. The airport plans to complete a feasibility study within the next 6 to 12 months. The airport, already the sixth busiest in the world by number of passengers, expects a 50% increase in passengers over the next two decades.

In April, Colorado Governor Jared Polis signed into law HB 1040 which makes all nuclear power projects in the state eligible for new financing sources, tax incentives. The bill officially classifies nuclear energy as a “clean energy resource.”
