The FBI raided the home and the office of former National Security Adviser John Bolton early on the morning of Aug. 22. They are seeking classified documents that they believe are in Bolton’s possession, some of which he may have used in his “tell-all” book on the first Trump Administration, The Room Where It Happened. Bolton is now a major critic of Trump’s efforts to negotiate a peace in Ukraine and spends most of his time on conservative networks attacking Trump’s peace efforts. Bolton himself has not been arrested, and is not charged with anything at this point. Boxes of material have been taken from his house, and his office, for further investigation. In comments to the press later in the day on Aug. 22, President Trump said he had no information about the raid which he first saw on the news. He said that he had no intention on interfering in the work of the law enforcement officials. He said he considered Bolton a “low-life,” and was not at all happy with him, but he was leaving any legal investigations up to the determination of the Justice Department.
