The German Federal Statistical Office (Statistisches Bundesamt) has made a major correction to GDP figures previously given. They had reported that the German economy had shrunk by 0.3% in 2023 and 0.2% in 2024. According to the new figures, the economy has shrunk by 0.9% and 0.5%.
In 2022, German GDP had plunged 4.25%. The cumulative loss of GDP in Germany since 2021 is roughly equivalent to the combined GDP of the Baltic Republics.
