Hungary's Orban Gives Status Report on EU Meeting on Ukraine

One day after the smaller meeting at the White House with President Donald Trump, leaders of the 27 member states of the European Union held an online meeting on Aug. 19 to discuss the next steps in Ukraine. Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban, who has been an outspoken critic of the NATO war policy in neighboring Ukraine and a close ally of President Trump, reported the following on his X account regarding the summit:

“1. It has been confirmed that the danger of a third world war can only be reduced through a Trump-Putin meeting.

“2. It has been confirmed that the isolation-based strategy has failed.
