The spokeswoman for Russia’s Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, stated yesterday that a Russian diplomatic vehicle carrying members of Russia’s diplomatic mission to the Palestinian Authority in the West Bank was attacked and damaged. The attack occurred near an illegal Israeli settlement, Giv’at Asaf, about 20 kilometers north of Jerusalem. She noted that both the Russian Ministry and the Palestinian Authority are accredited with Israel’s Foreign Ministry.
Further, the spokeswoman noted that the IDF failed to take any action, which she described as “particularly puzzling. The Israeli Defense Force soldiers didn’t even bother to try and stop the attackers’ aggressive actions. We regard this incident as a blatant violation of the 1961 Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations.” The Russian embassy in Tel Aviv has submitted an official note to the Israeli authorities.
