Japanese Continue To Deny the Truth About the Nanjing Massacre

In an article published on Aug. 22, the deputy managing editor of the well-known Japanese daily Sankei Shimbun, Takashi Arimoto, attacked the Chinese film “Dead to Rights” which is based on the story of how the Chinese succeeded in smuggling out photos of the Japanese atrocities during World War II. The film also portrays some of the atrocities actually committed. Arimoto claimed that the 1937 Nanjing Massacre was “an historical hoax devised by China.” According to Global Times, the film has already been attacked by Japanese right-wing groups since its release.

The Japanese government has also been working hard to discourage other countries through their embassies from attending the Beijing commemoration of the end of the war in the Pacific on Sept. 3.
