In a message to be shared only after his death, Palestinian journalist Anas Jamal Al-Sharif left a final appeal to the world. He wrote, “If these words reach you, know that Israel has succeeded in killing me and silencing my voice.”
Al-Sharif reflected on his life in Gaza’s Jabalia refugee camp, his longing to return to his family’s original home in occupied Asqalan, and his commitment to “convey the truth … so that Allah may bear witness against those who stayed silent.”
“Do not forget Gaza … and do not forget me in your sincere prayers,” he wrote.
Hours before he was killed along with several other journalists in a strike by Israel, he wrote the following:
“The occupation is now openly threatening a full-scale invasion of Gaza.
