New Arms Package for Ukraine Proposed in U.S. Senate

A bipartisan effort has emerged in the U.S. Senate to gin up another gigantic weapons package for the Kiev regime. According to a report in The Hill, posted many hours before the Russian and American Presidents met in Alaska, Sen. Lisa Murkowski (R-AK) and Senate Foreign Relations Committee ranking member Jeanne Shaheen (D-NH) are proposing a $54.6 billion package in new aid to Ukraine. “It will be important to stimulate the conversation on Ukraine, which I think is good,” said Murkowski of her proposal.

Shaheen told The Hill that her goal is to keep the issue of military aid to Ukraine on top of colleagues’ minds. “The goal is to keep in front of people the importance of continued aid to Ukraine and to recognize that the best way to get Russia to the table is to continue to provide the assistance that Ukraine needs in order to conduct this war,” she claimed.

Democrats are reaching out to Sen. Roger Wicker (R-MS), the chair of the Senate Armed Services Committee, and Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-KY), the chair of the Senate Appropriations Defense Subcommittee, in an effort to build bipartisan support for another Ukraine aid package, according to a person familiar with the behind-the-scenes negotiations. The leading defense hawks didn’t reject the overtures, the source said.
