Demonstrations have targeted Microsoft data centers near Middenmeer in the Netherlands, with protesters blocking the roadway and others demonstrating from the roof. The protesters called on the employees to stop work until Israeli intelligence data, stored on Microsoft’s Azure platform, is removed.
Several media reports document that these Microsoft data centers, including one in Ireland, store 11,500 terabytes of data from Israel’s notorious Unit 8200, which uses the storage space for mass surveillance of phone calls made in Gaza and the West Bank and to facilitate airstrikes and Israeli military operations.
