In a telephone discussion on Aug. 20, Russian President Vladimir Putin briefed Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan on his talks with U.S. President Trump on settling the Ukraine conflict.
According to a report from the Russian President’s website, Putin “shared his assessment of the summit meeting between Russia and the United States in Anchorage,” as well as the latest developments concerning Ukraine. Putin also expressed Russia’s appreciation of Türkiye’s efforts to facilitate talks between Russian and Ukrainian representatives in Istanbul.
For his part, Erdoğan informed Putin that Türkiye would support a process involving “all parties” for peace in Ukraine, the Turkish presidency said.
