On August 29, the Russian Defense Ministry Board convened to review progress on the implementation of objectives decided on by the extended board session of December 2024 and to assess the interim results. The results of the work in ten priority areas that were set in that session will be reported to President Vladimir Putin at the next extended board session at the end of 2025. The most important of the ten priority areas that Defense Minister Andrei Belousov addressed was “achieving the goals set by the Supreme Commander-in-Chief,” President Putin, for the special military operation.
Belousov stressed that Russian troops “have increased the momentum of advance this year. At the beginning of the year, we were liberating 300-400 square kilometers monthly, and this figure has reached 600-700 square kilometers.”
