President Donald Trump said in a statement on Truth Social today that he had ordered the deployment of two nuclear armed submarines in response to statements by Dmitry Mevedev, the deputy chairman of Russia’s Security Council. “Based on the highly provocative statements of the Former President of Russia, Dmitry Medvedev, who is now the Deputy Chairman of the Security Council of the Russian Federation, I have ordered two Nuclear Submarines to be positioned in the appropriate regions, just in case these foolish and inflammatory statements are more than just that. Words are very important, and can often lead to unintended consequences, I hope this will not be one of those instances,” he said.
Scott Ritter, in a special edition of Ritter’s Rant in response to Trump’s statement, called Trump an idiot, using the Russian word “durak,” which he said is not a nice word. “So why am I using the term Durak? ... Because I imagine that this what about 150 million Russians are saying right now about President Donald J. Trump, the American President, Durak, Durak, in the worst possible way.”
Ritter pointed out that it’s idiotic to deploy nuclear submarines in response to comments from Medvedev, who reminded Trump that the Russians have a retaliatory capability in case the U.S. launches a decapitation strike against Russia. Ritter also reminded Trump that the U.S. already has four Ohio-class ballistic missile submarines on patrol at any given time, so the U.S. already has that first-strike capability deployed. “So Donald Trump’s mad that Dmitry Medvedev dare say ‘hey look we have a dead hand to deal with any preemptive attack by the United States,’ so what does he do... deploy the very systems that would carry out a preemptive attack! durak! durak! durak! The man is an idiot, a certifiable idiot now.”
