Two Cabinet Ministers Resign in the Netherlands over Gaza Policy

Dutch Foreign Minister Caspar Veldkamp and Minister for Foreign Trade Hanneke Boerma both resigned from the Netherlands government on Aug. 23, as the Social Contract party (NSC), in which both are members, pulled out of the coalition government. The issue of their resignation is that the Dutch government declined to adopt “additional measures” against Israel that Veldkamp and Boerma were demanding, in light of the “increasingly deteriorating humanitarian situation in Gaza,” according to a report in RT. Specifically, they were calling for a ban on imports from Israeli settlements in occupied Palestinian territories.
