On the one hand, the British government of Prime Minister Keir Starmer has publicly expressed dissatisfaction with Israel’s war in Gaza, announced its plans to recognize a Palestinian state in September, sanctioned far-right Israeli ministers, and deplored the targeting of starving Palestinians seeking food. On the other hand, British-Israeli military cooperation has continued without a hitch as British spy planes continue to fly missions over Gaza, The Times of London reported yesterday, citing government sources. The Ministry of Defense confirmed to The Times that British military surveillance flights were “still ongoing” over Gaza.
Intelligence gathered by undisclosed Royal Air Force aircraft and other British assets in the region is being handed over to the Israeli military, supposedly for the sole reason of providing Israel with up-to-date information on the movement of captured Israelis.
