Ukraine Bombs Russian Oil Pipeline That Supplies Hungary and Slovakia

Hungarian and Slovakian officials have accused neighboring Ukraine of cutting off the flow of Russian oil to their countries by bombing a pumping station in Russia on the Druzbha oil pipeline. In a Telegram post yesterday, Robert Brovdi, commander of Ukraine’s Unmanned Service Forces, wrote: “The Druzhba pipeline is out of service. The flow of oil has been completely halted indefinitely.” Brovdi claimed that the attack struck the Nikolskoye pumping station in Russia’s Tambov region, 460 km southeast of Moscow. This is the second such attack by Ukraine this year.

The Druzbha pipeline was built in 1964 and spans a distance of over 2,500 miles, delivering oil from Russia to Ukraine, Belarus, Poland, Hungary, Slovakia, the Czech Republic and Germany.

Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto talked to Russia’s Deputy Energy Minister Pavel Sorokin, who said the repair work had already begun, but could not say when it would be completed. “This latest strike against our energy security is outrageous and unacceptable,” Szijjarto stressed.
