German BSW party head Sahra Wagenknecht seems to have taken the “It was Kiev” bait on the Nord Stream pipeline destruction, but she insists that it could not have happened without consent from the U.S. government and calls for a Bundestag investigative committee.
She posted the following (in translation from the original German) on her X account on Aug. 28: “What more needs to be uncovered before the Federal government holds Ukraine accountable? The Foreign Office must summon the Ukrainian ambassador now! The new investigations confirm the suspicion that the Ukrainian state is deeply involved in the Nord Stream attack. However, it is hardly conceivable that this happened without the knowledge and approval of the U.S. intelligence services. The opposition in the Bundestag must finally establish an investigative committee. The Greens and the Left are completely failing here! It cannot be that German taxpayers have to provide €50 billion for weapons and aid for Ukraine, and then Ukrainians destroy our energy infrastructure. If the Nord Stream pipelines were blown up with the approval of the Ukrainian government, the country should not be admitted to the EU either. Not to mention the billions in costs that Ukraine’s EU accession would impose on German taxpayers.”
