An opinion poll conducted by the Dimap Infratest team for Norddeutscher Rundfunk shows that one year ahead of state parliamentary elections in the northeastern state of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, the AfD is leaving all other parties far behind. With a current rating of 38%, it would more than double its result in the 2021 state election. It is swapping places with the SPD at the top of the polls. The Social Democrats of Minister President Manuela Schwesig, who have governed the state for 27 years, are slipping to 19%. Their result from the last state election would thus be halved. The CDU is not benefitting either. At 13%, it remains at its historically poor election result of 2021.
