U.S. President Donald Trump’s “Senior Counselor for Trade and Manufacturing” Peter Navarro assured would-be Trump guru Steve Bannon on the latter’s War Room show on Sept. 8 that there is no reason to worry about the BRICS; the group will not only fall apart, but also its members are likely to kill each other.
Neither of these two fools in their swagger-like caricatures of an ugly American, is capable of understanding that nations around the world are clamoring to join the BRICS precisely because of what is known now as “the BRICS spirit,” the understanding that cooperation between nations on the common aims of Mankind, not imperial geopolitics, is the future for the planet.
“I don’t see how the BRICS alliance stays together, since historically they all hate each other and kill each other,” Navarro ranted to Bannon. India has been “at war with China for decades.… And I just remembered, yeah, it was China that gave Pakistan a nuclear bomb…. [Indian Prime Minister] Modi, see how you kind of work that out.”
Russia may be “in bed with China” now, he added, but [Russian President Vladimir Putin] will need “good luck” to fight Beijing’s “massive illegal immigration” in Siberia. He went so far as to assert that Beijing is out to grab Russia’s Vladivostok port. As for Brazil, it’s “going down the tubes” because of President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva’s “socialist policies.”
Navarro’s bottom line? “None of the countries in the grouping can survive if they don’t sell to the United States. And when they sell to the United States their exports, they’re like vampires sucking our blood dry with their unfair trade practices.”
