Not only are foreign nationals in the U.S. in jeopardy of losing their visa status by making statements against actions taken by the State of Israel. Now Americans risk losing their passports, and thus their opportunity to travel internationally.
According to section 226 of Mast’s proposed bill, the Secretary of State will revoke (or refuse to issue) a passport to any U.S. individual whom “the Secretary determines has knowingly aided, assisted, abetted, or otherwise provided material support to an organization the Secretary has designated as a foreign terrorist organization.”
While the language is general, the political context, and the character of Representative Mast, leads one to conclude that the intent is to label people who oppose Israel’s destruction of Gaza as supporters of terrorism.
