The Gaza health ministry, in its daily report of today, reported 61 deaths and 220 wounded in the previous 24 hours, bringing the totals since Oct. 7, 2023 to 65,344 dead and 166,795 wounded. The toll of dead and injured from March 18, 2025, when Israel resumed the war, stood at 12,785 martyrs and 54,754 injured. The ministry’s figures only include victims that have actually made it to hospitals and therefore understates the true toll. The health ministry reports always include the line: “A number of victims are still under the rubble and on the roads, as ambulance and civil defense crews are unable to reach them until now.” Estimates as to how many unrecovered bodies have run around 10,000 while the number of unrecorded deaths could be 2-3 times higher than the official death toll or even higher.
The ministry reported on Sept. 19, four deaths due to famine and malnutrition in the past 24 hours, raising the total number of malnutrition deaths to 440, including 147 children. Since the IPC declared famine in Gaza, 162 deaths have been recorded, including 32 children.
