Boebert Legislation Would Prohibit Pentagon Contracts to Boycotters of Israel

“Americans are free to express their political views,” said Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-CO) in March, but apparently that doesn’t apply to Israel. On Sept. 9, she introduced an amendment to a defense bill that would prevent those boycotting Israel from winning Pentagon contracts.

“Prohibition on Entering into Contracts with a Person Engaged in a Boycott of the State of Israel,” reads the title, according to the text as published in the Congressional Record. Boebert’s amendment states: “The Secretary of Defense may not enter into a contract with a person if such person is engaged in an activity that is politically motivated and is intended to penalize or otherwise limit significant commercial relations specifically with Israel or persons doing business in Israel or in Israeli-controlled territories.” The amendment was accepted, and the bill was passed.
