Electricity Per Capita Shows the Direction of Development

A striking chart of electricity consumption per capita data, compiled by the global (green) economics think-tank Ember, shows a sharp distinction between G7 and BRICS nations. The bar graph compares 15 major nations as to their electricity consumption per capita: in 2000 and in 2024.

The leading electricity-per-capita nations are Canada, the United States, South Korea, and Australia, followed by Russia, Japan, and China.
