Qatar Foreign Ministry spokesman Majed al-Ansari announced today that the Arab League and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation have agreed to hold an Extraordinary Joint Arab-Islamic Summit on Monday, Sept. 15, in Doha, in response to Israel’s Sept. 9 strike on Doha, seeking to assassinate Hamas negotiators as they met to discuss a U.S.-prepared peace agreement for Gaza. The Foreign Ministers will meet in Doha on Sept. 14 to prepare a resolution which Qatar hopes will be adopted by the summit the next day.
Al-Ansari said the agreement to hold the summit reflects the “broad Arab and Islamic solidarity with the State of Qatar in the face of Israel’s cowardly aggression … and the categorical rejection of Israel’s state terrorism.”
