The war hysteria continued to heat up yesterday and the corporate news media is playing its part. “President Donald Trump on Thursday said the U.S. could ‘end up in World War III’ over Russia’s war in Ukraine and conceded that Russian President Vladimir Putin has ‘let him down’ over his refusal to end his military campaign,” Fox News reported on Sept. 21, as if Putin were supposed to follow the dictates of the U.S./NATO narrative.
Fox follows this with an outright lie. “One day later, Russia sent three fighter jets over Estonia’s capital city of Tallinn in a direct and clear violation of its airspace, prompting another NATO member to spark Article 4 for the second time in as many weeks.” The Russian MiG-31’s were not “sent” over Tallinn. Even the map published by Estonian Defense Ministry shows no Russian planes coming within about 30 km of Tallinn, though it includes no radar data verifying the flight path they actually flew.
AP cites a senior Estonian military official alleging that the pilots of the Russian MiG-31’s ignored signals from the Italian F-35 pilots who were sent up to investigate their supposed presence in Estonian airspace. It still “needs to be confirmed,” whether the border violation was deliberate or not, Col. Ants Kiviselg, the commander of Estonia’s Military Intelligence Center, told Associated Press. Regardless, he said, the Russian jets “must have known that they are in (Estonian) airspace.”
