Israeli Strike Killed 31 Journalists in Yemen

According to a Sept. 19 report by the Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ) at least 31 journalists and media workers were killed on a Sept. 11 Israeli airstrike on a newspaper complex in Yemen. The report states that this was “the deadliest strike on journalists in the Middle East” ever documented by the CPJ.

The CPJ argues that the Israeli strike was timed to hit as the staff of the Yemeni army’s official news outlet was finalizing its weekly print edition and three other Houthi-connected media outlets were working against their deadlines. The timing explains the high death count of journalists. The Houthi Health Ministry reported a total of 35 deaths and 131 injuries during this attack.
